YOMO 20, 24 and 26: 90% assembled
The larger YOMO 20, YOMO 24 and YOMO 26 arrive approximately 90% assembled.
The main difference is that the front wheel is removed for shipping.
Normal final setup therefore includes:
- fitting and securing the front wheel;
- aligning and securing the handlebar;
- fitting the pedals;
- adjusting the saddle height; and
- completing the final safety checks.
Allow approximately 20–30 minutes for the final setup rather than leaving yourself only a few minutes before bedtime.
Christmas Eve assembly: step by step
If you're keeping the bike hidden until Christmas morning, give yourself a clear workspace and enough time to work carefully.
1. Open the box carefully
Remove the protective packaging without using a blade close to the frame, tyres, cables or saddle.
Keep the packaging until you know everything has arrived correctly and the bike has been checked.
2. Find the toolkit and manuals
The YOMO all-in-one toolkit and instructions are supplied with the bike.
Read the model-specific assembly instructions before tightening anything rather than assuming the setup is identical to another bike you've assembled before.
3. Fit the front wheel if required
This applies to the YOMO 20, 24 and 26.
Follow the supplied instructions carefully and make sure the wheel is correctly seated and secured before continuing.
4. Align the handlebar
Set the handlebar in the correct position and secure it according to the supplied assembly instructions.
Don't simply straighten it by eye and assume the job is finished. Check that everything is correctly secured before the first ride.
5. Fit the pedals on the correct sides
The pedals are marked R for right and L for left.
The right side is the chain side.
- Right pedal: threads clockwise.
- Left pedal: threads anti-clockwise.
Start each pedal by hand before using the supplied spanner.
If a pedal immediately feels difficult to turn, don't force it. Remove it and start the thread again to avoid damaging the crank.
6. Set the saddle for your child
All YOMO bikes use a quick-release seatpost clamp, so normal saddle-height adjustment doesn't require tools.
For a newer or cautious rider, reassuring access to the ground can be particularly important.
A more confident rider can generally use a slightly higher saddle position for more efficient pedalling.

Complete the safety checks before adding the bow
A bike looking ready isn't the same thing as being ready to ride.

- the saddle and seatpost are secure;
- both brakes work correctly;
- the wheels rotate correctly;

- the chain and gears operate correctly where applicable; and

Don't wait until Christmas morning to check the size

No. The helmet should not be treated as an automatic item inside every bike box.

Should you assemble the bike before Christmas morning?
For a surprise gift, assembling and checking the bike beforehand usually makes Christmas morning easier.
It gives you time to:
- follow the instructions without rushing;
- check that everything is present;

- deal with any questions before the first ride; and
