How can we help with your YOMO ride?
BIKES, ACCESSORIES & SETUP
Use our PERFECT SIZE FINDER to get a personalised recommendation based on your child’s height and inseam.
If in doubt, contact us — we’re happy to help you choose the right size before ordering.
Measure your child’s head just above the eyebrows with a soft measuring tape:
- YOMO Helmet (XS): 46–50 cm
- YOMO Helmet (S): 50–53 cm
- YOMO Helmet (M): 53–56 cm
The helmet should sit low on the forehead, fit snugly, and not move side-to-side.
Yes, YOMO 14 and YOMO 16 are compatible with universal stabilisers.
We don’t sell them directly, and we recommend developing balance naturally — but if you use them, ensure they’re fitted securely and checked regularly.
All YOMO bikes arrive mostly assembled.
YOMO 12/14/16 – The front wheel of your YOMO 12/14/16 bike comes pre-assembled, so you’re already one step closer to your first adventure! (Arrive 99% assembled)
-
Place your bike on a clean, flat surface and ensure all components are secure.
-
Open the small box to find the Bike Manual, YOMO All-In-One Toolkit, Bell, and Pedals.
-
Carefully remove the packaging and position the bike in its upright riding position.
-
Refer to pages 3 and 4 of this guide for detailed, step-by-step instructions to set up the handlebar and pedals.
YOMO 20/24/26 – The front wheel requires setup. (Arrive 90% assembled)
-
Place your bike on a clean, flat surface and ensure all components are secure.
-
Refer to this guide for detailed, step-by-step instructions to set up the Front Wheel, Handlebar, and Pedals.
All YOMO bikes feature quick-release seatpost clamps, making saddle height adjustments tool-free and effortless. It's child’s play, quite literally.
We recommend two types of fit for young riders:
-
Learner Fit – Ideal for first-time riders. Both heels should rest flat on the ground while seated in the saddle.
-
Pedaler Fit – Best for confident riders. Toes of both feet should touch the ground while seated.
Note: For long rides, a slightly higher saddle improves efficiency. For tricks or off-road adventures, a lower saddle allows more control with extra knee bend.
-
YOMO 12 – Max 35 psi
-
YOMO 14/16 – 35–50 PSI
-
YOMO 20/24/26 – 40–65 PSI
Check the sidewall of the tyre for the specific range, and adjust within that based on your child’s weight and terrain.
To get the most comfortable hand position, you can easily adjust the angle of your brake levers using the tools provided. Here's how:
-
Identify the brake lever pinch bolt. It's located underneath the brake lever.
-
Use the 5mm hex key from your YOMO All-In-One kit to loosen the pinch bolt.
-
Adjust the brake lever to your preferred angle.
-
Tighten the pinch bolt using the same 5mm hex key.
Check brake performance: After making adjustments, ensure the brakes function properly before riding. Confirm that the levers fully engage the brakes when pulled.
Installing the pedals correctly is important for safety and smooth riding. Follow these simple steps:
-
Look for an 'R' (Right) and an 'L' (Left) marked on the pedals.
-
Right side = the side with the chain (drive side)
-
Left side = no chain
Install the Right Pedal (R):
-
Screw it clockwise (towards the front) into the crank arm by hand.
Install the Left Pedal (L):
-
Screw it anti-clockwise (towards the front) into the crank arm by hand.
Once both pedals are snug, use the YOMO 15mm spanner to gently tighten them.
Refer to page 4 of this guide for detailed, step-by-step instructions to set up the pedals.
This usually means the brake arms aren’t centred. You can adjust the spring tension on each brake arm using the screwdriver from the YOMO All-In-One toolset.
Steps to fix:
-
Spin the front wheel and check which brake pad rubs against the rim.
-
Locate the small screw on the side of the brake arm (usually just above where the arm pivots).
-
Use the YOMO screwdriver to:
-
Tighten (clockwise) the side that’s too far from the rim.
-
Loosen (anticlockwise) the side that’s rubbing.
-
-
Adjust both sides until the gap between the pads and rim is even.
-
Spin the wheel again to test — it should spin freely without rubbing.
Tip:If the cable is too tight, release some tension by adjusting the barrel adjuster or cable clamp.
Use the barrel adjuster near the shifter to fine-tune the cable tension.
-
Turning it outwards slightly tightens the cable and helps eliminate chain skipping.
-
Turning it inwards slightly loosens the tension if needed.
For major adjustments, we recommend a tune-up by your local bike shop — or you can follow the step-by-step instructions in our Rear Derailleur Adjustment Guide.
Start by explaining how lower numbers make pedalling easier and higher numbers make it harder.
-
Practise shifting while riding on flat ground.
-
Encourage them to shift before climbing hills.
-
Avoid shifting under heavy load.
Kickstands can be convenient for parking, especially for older riders.
However, they add a little extra weight and may catch on obstacles during off-road riding.
YOMO bikes don’t come with a kickstand fitted, but universal ones can be used if needed.
We recommend a basic check every month:
-
Inspect brakes
-
Check tyre pressure
-
Lubricate the chain
-
Tighten all bolts
A full tune-up once a year by a bike shop will help keep everything running smoothly — especially if your child rides regularly.
You’ll find the serial number stamped underneath the bottom bracket (where the pedals connect to the frame). It’s a good idea to note it down or take a photo for reference in case you ever need it.
Use a soft measuring tape to measure around your child’s forehead, just above the eyebrows.
Most kids fit one of these two sizes:
-
YOMO Small: 50-53 cm
-
YOMO Medium: 53–56 cm
The helmet should sit level and feel snug (not too loose or too tight).
